    Dear Walnut Grove Families,

On Thursday, Feb. 7, Monday, Feb. 11, and Tuesday, Feb. 12, Student Council will sell the Annual Valentine's Day Candy Grams. Each student will be given the chance to purchase Candy Grams for their friends. Also, on those days, parents will have the opportunity to go to the front desk and buy Candy Grams for their children.

A Candy Gram is a balloon filled with a few pieces of candy and every note that was addressed to them. The kids get to pop the balloon in order to reach the goodies inside. Each Candy Gram costs $1.00, for every dollar, a note, written by the student, will be given to a friend of their choice. There is no limit as to how many candy grams can be purchased per child. All candy grams will be delivered to the students on February 14 at the end of the day.

Thank you for your participation, and we hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day!

  • WGCS collects Shoeboxes

Yesterday the WGCS student body gathered to pray over Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Each and every student & faculty prayed togther, then walked the boxes to load on the bus for delivery. It was such a moving experience to feel the love of Christ poured out through our students! Plus, the day before our boxes were due, we were 98 boxes short of our goal! Then we made a last minute plea to our families & so many boxes came pouring in, that on the last day, we ended up exceeding our goal. We were able donate 170 boxes! We were so excited about our Shoebox Donating Ceremony that we just had to post a few more photos of our students loading the bus for delivery to @operationchristmaschild. Once all the boxes were packed, seniors from our Mission Team made the delivery and loved talking to the kind people from Franklin Graham Samaritan's and Mrs Graham!

  • Palmetto Boys State Delegates Chosen

Look who is going to Palmetto Boys State this summer! Congrats to Gunnar Hensley & Banks Johnson; they were chosen by American Legion Post 43 and WGCS Administration to attend this wonderful South Carolina tradition. The American Legion’s Boys State program is a unique way for young men to learn about the American system of government and politics by participating in a mock governmental system. Only boys with outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, and loyalty and service to their schools and community are chosen & we are super excited for Banks and Gunnar as they prepare to join the brotherhood of Palmetto Boys State Special thanks to Snowflake Village and Goshen Glenn Ministries for sponsoring our Boys State representatives.

  • WGCS serves at Special Olympics

What a beautiful day for the Special Olympics Spring Games. Our high school students & teachers were inspired and had a wonderful time serving the Special Olympics Mecklenburg County athletes & families.

Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. The Special Olympic athletes find joy, confidence and fulfillment -- on the playing field and in life. They also inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.

The mission of Special Olympics is near & dear to the heart of WGCS & we are honored to work alongside everyone today!
