From Mission Team leader......
Wednesday night, as I stood in the back of a food truck in NYC, watching our students talk to and pray over an elderly homeless man, I just thanked God as tears welled up in my eyes. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I watched our students become relief workers and missionaries. Not a single one said "I can't". They all stepped out of their comfort zones and became the hands and feet of Christ. We worked with the homeless on the street, in a soup kitchen, and in one of the oldest missions in NYC. They were able to wash dishes, serve food, hand out blankets, and even lead a worship service through music, prayer, and scripture reading. Our kids amazed me not only filling people's physical needs, but spiritual needs as well, offering to pray with people. That takes a lot of courage at any age, but especially as a teenager.
Thank you so much for praying for our team. Thank you so much for supporting us and giving us this opportunity. And thank you God for an amazing experience for us all. As our mission team motto declares, "Changing lives, starting with our own". I do believe we were all changed because of our opportunity to serve others, especially from the tailgate of a food truck in NYC.
We loved hearing our students praise Jesus in music class today with our new teacher, Mrs. Rudnick. "Make a joyful noise unto The Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, & rejoice, & sing praise." Psalm 98:4
